clemwongMemberHi!
Do any one know the official answer of the captioned?
We are using Myeclipse blue 8.5 now as our enterprise development tool. May I know if there is any plan when it will de-support. We need to know to plan ahead whether to migrate to a newer version. FYI, we have customize some plug-in and tools with 8.5, which may take us time to migrate so we need to plan ahead.
support-swapnaModeratorclemwong,
We will provide support for 8.x release in the forums to the best of our abilities but no new fixes will be currently made to the 8.x stream. For any fixes or new features, you will need to move to more recent versions of MyEclipse like 10 or 11.
So I recommend you start the migration process to the latest version (currently 10.7, MyEclipse 11 is due to release in this quarter) and in the meantime let us know if you see any issues with the existing 8.x install.
Let us know if you have any questions.
clemwongMemberThanks a lot! Just for my record / reporting purpose may I know what was the date it de-support?
Also, we are using WAS 7 and ICE-faces1.8 with our Myeclipse Blue 8.5. Is there any foreseeable problem or compatibility if I upgrade to 10.7 or 11? Do I need to rewrite anything (we have some plug-in, and also some customized ICEfaces component) if I do the upgrade?
support-swapnaModeratorclemwong,
We stopped committing fixes to the 8.x stream from 2011 onwards.
Make sure the plugin is compatible with Eclipse 3.7.2 and Eclipse 3.8 which is the base for MyEclipse 10.7 and MyEclipse 11 respectively. You will not see any compatibility issues with WAS 7 and ICEFaces integration.
Once you install MyEclipse 10.7 or 11 and import the projects, a wizard will ask you to upgrade the projects to work with MyEclipse 9 and above as your projects are developed in MyEclipse 8.5. Follow the wizard and you should be all set to work with MyEclipse 10.7 or 11.
Let us know if you see any issues.
