I don’t see WebSphere 6 as an option. Can we manage WebSphere 6? If so, how?

    Thanks,

    Richard

    Richard,
We would encourage you to try the existing WebLogic connector closest to the WebLogic release you are looking to use to see if it works. If it does not then at the least remote debugging may be supported, you can learn how to do that via the doc here: http://myeclipseide.com/enterpriseworkbench/help/index.jsp?topic=/com.genuitec.myeclipse.doc/html/quickstarts/remotedebugging/index.html

I’ll give it a try. Are you going to add the WAS 6 support anytime soon?

There were not plans to add it as it is a fairly old release, but if user demand were high enough we would look into it.

    Riyad,

he’s asking for IBM Websphere. Seems you got Websphere and Weblogic mixed up in your answer.

WAS6 comes with new hot deployment features (free-form projects). Will deployment with Myeclipse become easier with that features (RMIC had to be invoked externally for WAS 5)?

    Stefan

    Stefan,

Actually, it should be much better simply because they couldn’t’ve made it much worse. 🙂

Seriously though, we’ll be looking at adding a connector for WebSphere 6 in the 4.0 timeframe (late April). With any luck the
IBM team has addressed some of the things that made programming with WebSphere 5 such a bear.

In the interim, you should be able to use it by launching it externally and using our remote debugging capabilities, as detailed in the Remote Debugging Quickstart in our Documentation section, here:
