Hi,

as I have to work with serveral IDEs like MyEclipse, WID and RAD I have to close and open the IDEs every now and then.

If the application server is already running then I’m unable to get the server console in console view. I have to restart the server.

If I’m doing the same thing in RAD the console won’t be connected as well. However as soon as I switch to the server view RAD will discover that the server is running and it will reconnect the console.

In MyEclipse I can click on “update server status” and it will recognize that the server is running, however it won’t open the server console.

Is there another way besides restarting the server for retrieving the server console?

I do know the work arround with opening the log-file in a text editor, however that’s unconvenient as well.

I see your point – unfortunately I cannot supply a workaround right now. I have, however, filed this as a bug and I will try to provide this capability in MyEclipse 10 or even earlier if possible.

Am pleased to report that your issue has been fixed and will be available in the 9.0.1 maintenance in a couple of weeks. If the server is found to be running, MyEclipse will reconnect the console. Thanks again for asking.

Dear Brian,

I now updated to the latest version. Retrieving the console of a standard WebSphere Application server seems to work now. Thank you.
However if a server is configured with the Portal connector then it won’t work as its still missing the “Update Server Status” menu option.

Sorry if I was not clear in my previous response. We did fix the console connection for servers which have the “update server status” button (WAS 7 and 8). However, we have not added this option to other servers, that issue is being separately tracked and I will prioritize it for MyEclipse 10.
