Will we ever be able to link to external video files?

My idea for an app requires this ability…

    Please advise…

You can set the Link property of a UI control such as a button to the URL of your online video as long as the video format is compatible with the iphone video specs:
    http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html
When the video is downloaded it will play in the iPhone QuickTime app. Upon completion there should be a Done button that will navigate back to your mobione app.

There are a couple of gotcha’s to watch out for:
    1) Test Center does not emulate video or audio, so test it on your iphone or itouch device. Use AppSync.

    2) There are some restrictions on the size and duration of videos over a cell network (need to google them; something like must be < 5 mins duration)

    3) I stated that the QuickTime player will provide a Done button to nav back to your MobiOne app. Well, it seems latest iOS/Mobile Safari is flakey for me on this and I’m not seeing Done button in some of my tests… 🙁

Down the road we plan to introduce video and audio UI components that give you better control over media player customization.

Wayne, thanks for the reply, but yes we had figured it out.
We bought your sftware and have to say it is pretty cool.
If nothing else we can make the app, then give it to a final developer as a guide for what we want.

    Thanks,
    David
