fchongMemberHi
just wanted to know that we will be required a registration with Apple before we can generate an iphone apps.
What if i just wanted to generate an apps but not submitting to Apple store, do i still need an apple developer account as i seems to see that to generate the apps it will ask for certificate ID.
My apps are used only for private group only
regards
Hong
support-michaelKeymasterAn Apple iOS Developer Membership is required to build any type of native iOS application regardless of your deployment scope, e.g., individual use, private group, company only, appstore. This requirement is imposed by Apple. The only work around is building for jail broken devices which MobiOne does not support.
If your private group that will use your app are all part of your company then take a look at the enteprise iOS developer membership.
fchongMembertq for the info.
fchongMemberHi
I saw in the other posts that besides needing an Apple developer licence number we will still need a device ID. ie. UUID
Is that true as i currently does not have an Apple device.

The UUID is required by the Apple provisioning portal to create an ad hoc provision profile. No device id is required for creating an appstore distribution profile.
fchongMemberHi Wayne
Thanks for your feedback, does that mean i must at least own an apple device before i can register for the Apple Developer licence. If so, I have a ipod Nano – does this have an UUID.
thanks

This is not necesary to create an Apple Developer account, but ipod nano is not an iOS device. Thus at some point if you wish to test on an iOS device you will need that device’s UDID to setup a provision profile for ad hoc testing.
fchongMemberThanks for the reply.
So, to be able to post my apps in the apple apps store i will not need the UDID, i just need the apple developer account of which i have to pay USD99 per annum
The UDID is only required for the testing of the apps. Why would we need this if we have the emulator to test it in mobione.
Hope i got this correct

Simple, the only way to know how your app truly performs is on the actually platform and device. Ultimately you are going to want to test on as wide a range of devices and ios versions as they are subtle differences.
