lhaleParticipantI just installed ME 9.0 in a pristine location. No projects imported, just the raw ME 9.0 still having that new software smell. So I needed Subversion 1.6 and proceeded to install it and the optional collabnet tool. I’ve had problems in the past on ME 7.5 with Pulse and installing things like subversion and mylin, but I figured, hey, you got all those problems worked out by now, right? Right?
Well, no, dead wrong. Instead, I get the following:
Installation details as follows:

I’ve no idea where the freaking log file is kept (perhaps you should put in a Help->View->Log facility, eh?
support-joyMemberlhale,
My sincere apologies. I am able to reproduce this issue at my end. If you choose not to select CollabNet software to be installed, you can install Subclipse 1.6 on your ME 9.0 profile. I have filed a PR for the dev team. I shall let you know as soon as a fix is available.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Brian FernandesModeratorihale,
We updated our caches of that update site and resolution should now work without issue.
Apologies for the inconvenience caused, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
lhaleParticipantThanks for the reply. Now on to the next problem, once again relating to Pulse (as you know, it’s not one of my favorite pieces of software):
I sadly discovered I could not load the Hibernate Tools from their update site because it conflicts with several MyEclipse 9.0 resources. So, now the Hibernate Tools plug in icon is forever stuck in the
Software UpdatesAvailable
window.
My question is simple – how the heck do I get it out of there now?
There is no remove facility, which prohibits me from installing any other plug-ins, like the Eclipse memory analyzer that I desperately need to do debugging. Now what do I do? I can no longer install other software until the Hibernate Tools is miraculously installed or is removed from the “To Add” list. Pulse just wastes my time – how can I run the regular Eclipse installer?
Brian FernandesModerator1) If you uncheck the Hibernate Tools item but leave the Memory analyzer checked, it should allow you to update / install the latter without trying to do anything with the former.
2) To permanently remove the Hibernate Tools action, look above the “Software Updates Available” section in the “My Software” section. Expand the “Personal Software” section, you should see Hibernate Tools listed, right click and choose Remove.
Hope this helps.
lhaleParticipantExcellent – I was able to (sadly) remove the Hibernate Tools so that the rest of my software updates can complete. My suggestion is to add the right-click remove functionality to the “Software Updates Available” section, too.
lhaleParticipantNow, let’s move on to the next problem – I needed to add PHP Development Tools (PDT) and chose it from Public Sites->Programming Languages using the MyEclipse Configuration Center (as if I had a choice in using something else). I figured this should be a straightforward one, seeing as this plug-in is a very comon one. NOPE – WRONG AGAIN.
Now what do I do? How does one go about “fixing” my almost-pristine recently installed MyEclipse 9.0 without many plug ins configuration?
And what the hell is going to happen when I really need to add a handful of plug-ins? This is crazy – just allow us to use the good ol’ Ecipse updater instead of Pulse.
lhaleParticipantI was able to get the PHP IDE installed by following some support help for version 8.x -> https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/error-when-trying-to-install-aptana-for-ruby-development/#post-308642 . How come this is still a problem with version 9.0?
Anyways, I hope I don;t run into the same kinds of subsequent PHP debug problems as that guy.
Brian FernandesModerator1) Using Pulse or the Eclipse updater would make no difference, the problem is a conflict in MyEclipse with the PDT due to the IE debugger; you would have the problem with the Eclipse updater too.
2) I know you have already experienced conflicts in the past from your experience with Jboss Tools. All we can do is allow you to remove bits of MyEclipse that you may not need to resolve these issues.
To that effect, MyEclipse 10 will be even more modular than it is now, with further install options that will allow you to install subsets from the get-go.
3) As far as keeping the IED installed and being compatible with the PDT, we will do our best; but that is unfortunately not viable or even possible in many cases.
