Hi,

Can I build apps that will run on Andriod 2.1 or is there another version you start from?

I want to build “simple” apps for local businesses that show case their business with articles, photos and youtube videos, and so will not require access to API’s like camera etc.

You can start with 2.1. My personal preference would be to start with android 4 (ICS). Older versions of android are full of quirks. For example see this note http://genuitec.com/mobile/docs/highlights/current/#sec7
