I am trying to add a WebSphere 7.0 server profile.

    I went to window->preferences->MyEclipse->Servers->WebSphere – Blue Connectors->WebSphere 7.0

I made sure that the WebSphere home directory was populated and I clicked Add and the Add Instance Wizard appeared. Whatever I put in the Name field or the Profile Location field, I keep getting the error “Invalid configuration.” I tried many different combinations of directories and names, and it still just says “Invalid configuration.”

I am converting from a RAD project, and all I want to do is add another app server locally, but I can’t seem to get around the invalid configuration error.

    Any ideas?

    shanr5 ,

Sorry that you are seeing this issue with MyEclipse. I could not replicate the issue at my end.

Can your recheck if you are giving the correct path as profile location in the Add Instance wizard ?

Attached are the screenshots for the Websphere connector and the Add Instance wizard. You need to login to be able to see the attachments.

Let me know how this works for you.

IN RAD, I go to window->preferences->Server->WebSphere Application Server and start the Profile Management Tool. I use this to create a new profile in an empty directory.

I am trying to do the same thing in MyEclipse Blue. I want to create a new profile to which I can associate my local application server. I am assuming that the add instance wizard will create a new profile. I give it a path to an empty directory where I want the profile created, and it tells me “Invalid Configuration.”

Should the directory I give to the add instance wizard already contain a profile? If so, how do I create it?

I might be going about this all wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

    shanr5 ,

You can create a new profile using the Profile Management Tool either from Menu Start > Programs > IBM Websphere > Application Server v7 > Profile Management Tool or bin/ProfileManagement (Websphere Installation directory). We do not have the option to run Profile Management Tool from inside the MyEclipse IDE.

Once you have created a new profile, you can then give it in the Add Instance wizard.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    to shanr5,
it happed to me too, it’s not MyEclipse’s fault, it’s caused by the the fact that you’ve created a websphere profile for a root user. If you start myeclipse as Administrator you’ll be able to configure the websphere connector correctly and hopefully to start the server successfully.
To create a websphere profile for non-root user check this http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wasinfo/v6r1/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.websphere.nd.doc/info/ae/ae/tpro_manage_nonroot.html

    Hope it helps.
